FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — Tis the season of giving and this holiday season two locals are doing what they can to help those less fortunate in our community.

Will Fletcher, owner of No Rest Till Success, and Keegan Bottoms of Freeport have partnered with local businesses to help families in need this year with school supplies, presents, hygiene products and socks and undergarments, to be given to the Salvation Army to distribute.

“Having been homeless myself, I know how valuable something such as a clean pair of socks can be and how much it can raise ones spirits”, Keegan said of the effort.

In addition, the pair have set a $1,000 goal to purchase a food truck through the Salvation Army. The truck will consist of produce, fruit, meat, and canned goods with enough provisions to feed 300-400 people well balanced meals, Keegan told us. The truck’s location will likely be in the city lot downtown Freeport with the Salvation Army’s help, we’re told.

Will and Keegan have placed donation bins at Zealous Art Studio in Freeport, Lucy-Deen Parkside Grocery, Zoom Zoom Convenience, Wayside Saloon, Logan’s Bar & Grill, Barkaus, Chad Kissick Tattoo, The Boys & Girls Club and the Cedarville Community Center with more locations to be added.

Along with donations, in order to distribute food from the food truck Will and Keegan say it will require about four hours of labor and 20 volunteers to accomplish.

“Will and I are honored to have the opportunity to spread positive energy and help those who need it most and look forward to make a lasting change in the community.”

If you would like to help this local cause, you can visit their GoFundMe page for more information, or to donate. If you’d like to speak with someone directly, you can call Keegan at 815-291-6745.
