Stephenson County, Illinois — Well, if you were hoping Monday’s snow storm in Freeport was the last sign of winter in the area, get ready because there’s more snow predicted to hit this Thursday and Friday.
According to the National Weather Service out of the Quad Cities today and tonight wind chills of 10 below, to over 20 below zero will occur at times through mid morning for portions of north central Illinois, northwest Illinois, west central Illinois, east central Iowa, northeast Iowa, southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri.
The National Weather Service says that while most areas will just receive an inch or two of new snow accumulation by Wednesday morning, higher amounts of 2 to 4 inches will occur along and south of a line from Keosauqua Iowa, to Monmouth Illinois. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for these higher snow amount areas for tonight.
Going into Thursday and Friday Snow is likely over much of the outlook area. Early predictions predict a 22% chance for more than 6 inches with a 27% chance of less than 3 inches of snow.
Looking ahead into Saturday, there is also another round of snow is possible.
Looks like more snowy wintry weather ahead.
