FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — As part of a focus on community preparedness for disasters, a free seminar on mold abatement will be offered to the Freeport and Stephenson County community. The seminar will be held on Saturday October 26, 2019, at the Freeport Public Library, 100 E. Douglas Street, Freeport. The seminar is from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, with lunch included. This seminar will provide attendees the opportunity to meet with local and regional disaster support services, learn disaster preparedness techniques, and hear from mold abatement specialists. Those attending the seminar will be able to partner with area disaster response groups.
There have been seven floods in three years in the Freeport area, affecting many homes with mold. The Stephenson County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), is working together with the Red Cross and Lutheran Disaster Response and other partners to provide this seminar. This educational opportunity is for homeowners and everyone who would be interested in preparing to partner with homeowners in flood cleanup.
