Freeport, Illinois — Born and raised in Freeport, Eric M. Borneman is a 2006 Freeport High School graduate, as well as a 2008 Highland Community College graduate. Borneman went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in 2011 from Northern Illinois University (NIU), and then graduated with Honors from NIU College of Law in 2015. While attending law school, Borneman served as a law clerk for the NIU Office of General Counsel, and a judicial extern for Federal Magistrate Judge P. Michael Mahoney.
Borneman was excited to return to Freeport in 2015. “No matter where I have been, I have always been proud to say that I am a Pretzel from Freeport, Illinois,” he said.
“Freeport has tremendous momentum for economic development and community enhancement, based on the hard work of the city council and many citizens throughout the area. I look forward to providing leadership to continue this progress and help make Freeport a better place to live, work and play.”
For the last three years, Borneman has been an Assistant State’s Attorney in Stephenson County. “During my time as an attorney, I’ve learned that you can’t always be the smartest person in the room, but you can be the most prepared, most informed, and hardest working.” he said. “That is the type of person I strive to be personally and professionally, and that is the person the voters will get when they vote for me for 1st Ward Alderman.”
The primary election is February 26, and the general election is April 2, 2019.
