Freeport, Illinois — A longtime favorite local place for lunch and dinner has announced it will no longer continue its public food service or bar service. At the June 7th Freeport VFW Post 998 board meeting it was decided to discontinue these services on a permanent bases.
Over the past few years the VFW has went through a few changes in its restaurant and bar service management. A number of people have taken over that part of the VFW but it appears, to no success.
The VFW says the facility will continue to host all the veteran organization meetings and will be available to rent on a limited bases. They say rental details will be published when available.
The VFW Post 998 is located at 1802 E Shawnee Street in Freeport.
